Telengana and NaMo Effect

Telengana State in particular requires the ushering in of an uniform civil code. It is the region where Naxalism reared it’s ugly head for decades. Ability of the new Chief Minister to govern is a foregone conclusion but what attains importance is whether Mr.Modi will continue to commit ‘blunders’ of retaining incumbent Governor of Reserve Bank of india in the same way as he has by retaining the ‘architect-governor’ who successfully helped in division of A.P. into Telengana and A.P. States. The question of a ‘ change ‘ does NOT arise when the lot of governors, administrators and coterie remains the same

The NaMo Army

The NaMo Army a self-motivated & self-driven team that rocked the social media with NaMo chant, is such a group out of many groups who raised NaMo chant. These 8 people are engineers and entrepreneurs, none of them officially associated with the BJP. Strange as it may sound, the team started working in isolation and it was only at a much later stage that its efforts were recognized by the BJP.

Decay of Fourth Estate

Unless media houses restructure their business models, bring ethical journalistic practices to win back viewer/reader confidence, mainstream media will continue to ‘bleed’ and loose readership in favour of online media. Simultaneously, government will have to follow a ‘Hands-Off’ policy in news reporting and guarantee autonomy from official regulation to enable media to serve public good. Government should also refrain from rewarding the media from distorting news and make PCI more effective.

Trust The Constitution

People of the Nation are the Largest Stakeholders of the Constitution. In an age of Technology pervading all areas of life, for some curious reason, the EC chose to keep the Electorate entirely plugged out of the happenings. Instead of allowing news reports to confuse the Public about the activities of the EC, it would be better to open channels of communication through Social Media ensuring authorized status updates to quell the doubts of the People.
