ARK OF NO ONE

ARK OF NO ONE

                                                           By Pamarty Venkataramana

One attempts to heed to the sagacious advice of a most respected, erudite elder from anonymous realm of social media-queen, i.e; Twitter : tweet less ; more essays! And, so one opens a fresh new page on the screen .

No humming and hewing but as one ponders on a topical subject to deliberate upon, politics looms large, in bold print, across the firmament of the mind.

Alright, so it will again be on politics but then, if one is no paid mainstream media or ghostwriting orderly of some obscure publishing house, there is nothing spicy or breaking-hearts type to rant & rave over affairs of men, women and affairs one truly knows nothing about save the handouts of whispering secretaries, drivers, maids or distant relatives of these public servants.

And, in this era of FoE, expression is free.

Anyone and anybody could scribble a yellow journal worthy stuff and pull levers of the page-3 cocktails-party circuit to have a grand book-release in no time and even grab some parallel-economy priest of movie-land to churn out a pot-boiler.

And, then the characters would outgrow their screen-size and begin to dole out wisdom on public governance to complex situations such as disputed lands and refugee-crisis of unknown, far-away countries..

So, not much of an option left. Hence, one chooses to think deep over the meaning, nature, content, style, practices and culture of politics across the periods of history of civilizations, of mankind, of medieval Europe, Indian, other Asian & Oriental as well as the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Inca, Sumerian or Paleolithic ages vis-a-vis present, modern-day ‘state of politics’ .

Was man tribal?

Were men and women equal, in the beginning of all those river-valley agglomerations and as population grew and genetic disorder came about, did the formidable late Darwin’s might-is-right theory of evolution hold good?

Or, did he stumble upon some ancient Indian mendicant, sage or manuscript which revealed to him the time-tested wisdom and truth of the ‘Dasavataras’ ( ten incarnations of Lord Srimaha Vishnu ) as being the chain of evolution of all creation on our lovely planet Earth- from the seas to the current era of debating and fretting over ‘climate change’ at the same breath as fracking or religious domination by brute cultures over host countries..

Nevertheless, a 360- degree view of the whole spectrum of time-period studies across the present world picture of five-continents rings alarm-bells.

As resounding as the chimes of Big Ben across the Thames river or of temple-bells in the Himalayan peaks.

Not deadly as shrill voices that cry hoarse across the length and breadth of residential zones, hospital and school areas five times each and every day, calling out to the Almighty and the devout: as if, the former needs a reminder to answer the flock!

Oh my goodness! Is one digressing from the task on hand?

Oh No! Of course not!

After all, politics is such that no science can hold it in reins nor any art form render justice to the diversity, differentiation amidst the claims of identity, homogeneity and hologram-like images of umpteen number of have-beens, oddballs and wanna-be leaders that conjure at the very mention of public policy, general administration or good governance placards!

So, what really matters ?

Ironically, that very factor distinguishes quality, extent and reach as well as longevity and failure of politics.

One is amused.

Yes, ‘ethics’.

Ethics is the word.

Personal values, societal mores, family bonding, parochial tendencies, nationalist streak and community (interchangeable with communal) alignment determine ,direct and end the diabolical study of good and bad politics.

This is also the yardstick for measurement of a good politician from the bad one. Not poorer, mind you. For, no politician of our era is poor in the strictest sense of the term. Poverty of ideas , intent or purposeful exercise – no dearth there ..!

They all are good at rhetoric. Even histrionics. They outshine trained and professional stage actors.

The bard of Avon must be smiling to himself for having had the advantage of time over all of these able mindsets.

But, ‘ethics’?

Oh,they attribute many a reason, detriment, hurdle to justify non-delivery of poll-promises.

The system is such. Even the Saint falls. Angels have wings broken. Innocents are plundered. Ignorants dubbed wise men further plunge the ‘ark of no one’ to further quagmire of uncertainty, darkness and miseries.

E T H I C S …

Ponder over this singularly beautiful word. Learn, adapt, adopt, seek, absorb. Ethical ways alone can save the artificially bounded map of the world from plummeting into oblivion and apocalypse.

Humanism, Spiritualism, Universality.

These are the three legs of ethical governance.

‘Ark of No one’ should turn into the ‘ garden of everyone’.

Heaven on Earth. For those who see not beyond the equitable distribution of material resources with limited human tolerance levels and minimal love quotient for others dissimilarly stationed in life.

Ethics.

Imbibe these into psyche of leaders administrators, servants, systems, institutions.

Become a winner!

Of Politics..!!

Triumph!!!
