If you are a peace-lover, an Ambassador of Peace and an Editor requests a piece on Warfare, what would you do?
Retreat?
March ahead?
Withdraw from dilemma?

That, Dear folks, is exactly what passes through the mind of a ruler who is faced with a ‘to or not to go to war‘ question.
Peep into the mindsets of every warrior-King or conqueror of lands. There is but one typical confrontation, viz; of the conscience battling the ambitious assault planned. In only a case of defensive resistance that option remains surrender unless resistance is upped, in full force and steam of the spirit of warfare.
One reads at length in that magnificent longest epic of the world, Mahabharata, where subterfuge and sly tactics were in vogue but war ended daily with the sunset hour.
Gone are those days of ethical warfare.
More wars are fought in dark of night of before the dawn. Clandestine operations of military outfits is more a matter for pride of the attacking army. Hi-technology equipment and advanced gadgetry aid the wars with every battle being programmed more on lines of Unmanned vehicle drones forming the eyes, ears and arms of a battleground.
What does this reflect but a change in attitudes and behavioural patterns of mankind?
Guerrilla warfare. Terrorist attacks.
These two characterize reasons for the modern day battle . And, these are motivated by governing factors of occupation by fanatics for ostensibly mass religious conversion purposes . Or, by those out to grab natural resources as mineral deposits, crude oil drilling projects. And, a few, also in the garb of neo-colonialists. Out to civilize ‘third-world’, ‘poorest’ cultures.
Does a deficit in moral values such as self-aggrandizement or profiteering such as in case of the blood-diamonds and monetization-games (of late, popularly dubbed the trading platform) prompt the triggering of arms-sales across the globe?
Is the casino-like State model of governance where the owner of the casino never loses out although every player at the casino goes bankrupt, responsible for this spill over-effect of world’s economy?
Are ostentatious characters of big bankers and stock-brokers or merchants of precious stones the cause for mega-scams as have been detected in inter-bank operating rates or country-risk evaluation studies & reports?
The world goes around by certificates. Be it character, liquidity, birth, death or of being a rogue-State that sponsors, harbours, cultivates terrorism.
Thus, the root of all evil is war itself although wars are meant to end all other wars.
Can only another world war end all other wars?
If yes, on what front?
Definitely not in killing each other’s population. Or, by precipitating proliferation of nuclear armaments. Luckily, only recorded instance of world history till date was the dreadful Hiroshima-Nagasaki instance which shocks the collective conscience of all Humanity, till this date. And, which brought the Second World War to an end.
So, what really is needed is a re-alignment of nations across the five inhabited continents. Those who can come together for an Olympic Games must most certainly join policies to end conflicts, internal and external.
To achieve this seemingly egalitarian, utopian objective would require upholding of ideals- social, political, economic as being equal for all humans, irrespective of race, nationality, continent and creed.
All humanity should be knit by sole religion of Humanism.
No religion ought to seek to overpower the others by force, coercion or enticements. This common realization and bonding would come about only with universal literacy, distribution of food and other resources so no human being lives a life worse than the beasts or suffers ignominy on account of skin-color, facial-features or economic ‘purchasing-power’ being deficient when compared to others who enjoy advantages of time, history, loot and plunder over more prosperous civilizations of the planet, since centuries gone-by..
So, are ‘surgical-strikes’ directed at limited extermination of blood-hungry terror-modules the solution for all-out peace?
As a first option, yes.
However, this war must be all-out, within the frontiers of a ‘free-for-all’ society and a strict, honest, diligent enforcement of the ‘rule-of-law’ becomes a sine qua non, to justify any and all such strikes.
A civil society has to be rid of anomalies in policies as also ensure a just and kind, equal implementation of the policies which must not discriminate or differentiate between nationals, on grounds of any so-called ‘ personal law’ or other antiquated, artificial determinant as a ‘caste’.
The mixed genetic composition of armies is another reason for generic wars to turn uncertain . Ethics. Morals. Instincts. Discipline. Valor. Courage. Training. Abilities. All-important Patriotism.
Oh, war is exciting to the onlookers and studio-reporters. But, peace us always preferred even by a veteran of many battles . And, the common agriculturist .
Peasants and Politicians too should unite to throw out the war-mongers from within a society. Nations, distantly situated from a war-zone cannot escape the aftermath of any battle conflagration, anywhere else, in the globe.
No surgeon can operate without anesthesia. Unless, it be a case of euthanasia. With consent of the patient. And, all who inhabit such a cursed land of terror.
