2021 A. D. : Year of Revival

2021 A. D. : Year of Revival

                By- Pamarty Venkataramana

It is the law of Nature that whatever goes down has to go up : an universal rule which is applicable to all spheres, including Economy, Arts, Literature. After the woes or hardships, there is bound to come a positive change.

Today is a day of hope and change.

Pain and suffering has an innate quality of refreshing the mindset. Evil and wickedness must be countered with justice. These negative characters ought not to be believed ever again. Rather, these vermin of society must be buried by bouncing back with a vengeance through a steadfast concentration on meaningful pursuits.

Every person is endowed with one innate talent or the other. This potential must be harnessed without any fanfare.

Sponsorships and marketing campaigns sully the quality and mettle but real talent has an ability to attract mass attention in due course of time. As such, creativity alone can dismantle the virus-hit systems and ennui of society.

Economic activity must be revived not by pushing Youth towards immature start-up ventures that actually require rich experience in relevant sector nor by dangerously injecting funds into losers like public sector Banks that have gone bust.

Policy-making should undergo a vast transformation.

Government must guarantee public deposits in Banks to tune of at least rupees five crores. This, rather than pumping money or resorting to text-book wizardry of merger of loser Banks with robust ones.

India should welcome deposits in foreign-currency by offering a one percent higher rate of interest, in comparison to domestic deposits.

Such solid measures will greatly boost the fiscal structure of our country which should revive the ‘five trillion dollar economy’ script in order to boost morale and creativity-fibre of the 150 billion plus souls who breathe in name of the sovereign Republic of India.

Revival can be magical but Impact is often a slow process. This requires Statesmanship and foresight by unpolluted Head of State.

Hence, only a Constitutionalist Visionary leader can reinforce the revival programme, in a post-total collapse 2020 – era.

Vaccines are experimental and masks are defensive. Social distancing is a sensible, simpler way of countering the aftershocks of the Covid19 pandemic. Yet, there are more of enforcements and not resolutions.

Revival of economic activity will resemble disabled people unless public policy is revamped.

Parliament must redress the seven-decades old syndrome of ‘first among equals’ that has led to an all-round frustration and disgruntlement : the continuing phenomenon of ‘brain-drain’ is an offshoot of this aberration.

Thus, this Nation which prides itself on ‘unity amongst diversity’ must re-set laws to ensure –
One, uniformity in application of both laws and sops to all citizens.

Two, to reach define Banking functions and extend banking operations to foreign depositors as well.

Three, to prevent letting Corporates own public sector Banks.

Four, to patronise creativity in fields of Literature,Arts as much as in Technology.

Five, to patronise Ayurveda remedies as much as the competing vaccines to combat the Covid19 pandemic.

Such a revival ought to cover aspects of political, social and intellectual history. It should not be a renewal of old electoral manifestoes drawn in the years before 2020 that was a game-changer. This revival must extend both inside and outside the mainstream denominations of our plural society.

Also significant is the fact that 2021 A. D. offers a golden opportunity to return to what are seen as the original, undiluted values of earlier times – the  most glorious Sanatana Dharma.

This is the hour of reckoning for leaderships to rise as tall figures of history and not remain mere huge cut-outs outside tea-stalls.
