Witness to History

Witness to History

By Pamarty Venkataramana

Procrastination.

The forever in-thing. Across every sphere of life.

Governance-pundits and policy-czars seem to court this pristine quality of lazy minds, now more than ever before.

Common civil code.

They say, time is not ripe.

Arrest known scamsters.

Oh no. Not now. There’s time .

Abolish faulty multi-layered tax-system.

No way. Where do we go to fill tax coffers, they ask.

Round up gangsters, war-lords.

Not the time.

Okay.

Full convertibility of the desi currency.

Not now. What would the world say, is the reply.

Pilot a Members’ Bill in Lok Sabha for CCC.

Oh, no. Rajya Sabha has more opposition MPs.

Change Governor who stays beyond term, post-splitting of largest southern State.

Let him be. He knows both cats. So, cat-governor is the big boss there.

Replace Governor in anarchy State, the national capital-city, rather.

No. No. The opposite candidate who lost horribly is a Governor elsewhere.

Dismiss non-performing State Governments.

No. no. no.

We thrive on opposites.

As Sir Issac Newton said.

We are good. As they are bad. Only baddies make heroes out of chief protagonists.

Even in shadow-puppetry shows.

Politics, a mere extension.

Ventriloquism too?

Yes, few wags script the speeches mouthed by netas.

Surely, the headman speaks extempore bhai?

Yes, yes. He’s an exceptionally individualistic orator.

A leader exemplary.

One to emulate.

But, why then are we procrastinating on crucial, vital issues of utmost national importance ?

After all, terrorism is a global phenomenon.

Despite which, United States of America is going for Presidential elections.

Hungary held a historic referendum.

Brexit has occurred . Well, almost.

China still conquers many African countries via trade, economic diplomacy.

China is buying up all estate in Hollywood also. Has a few trillions sunk in Uncle Sam’s territory.

China single-handedly, nurtured, allowed Pakistan to be a formidable nuke-owning little State.

Yet, within China, it is communism that prevails.

Islam is banned almost wholly as in Japan.

Japanese boycott all products American, in protest of the Hiroshima-Nagasaki bombing, all those years ago.

Procrastination.

A very evil monster openly stalking the corridors of power in the Achey din era.

Via babulog?

Or, weakling set of advisers who love the painting of frogs bunched together in the well. Or,of bees cocooned in a honeycomb.

Of, is it diffidence-lack of confidence on part of piggy-riding, uplifted Union of lucky ones inducted as ministers in the Cabinet of a super duper heroic, charismatic peoples’ leader?

Ennui.

The by-product as also net-result of all acts of procrastination.

End this menace.

It borders on disease of insanity.

Only demented minds waste away advantage of an absolute, record-breaking majority in parliament with tainted opposition leaders seated in the other House.

Elders are idlers, is a common saying during sessions in the recent past.

What about the other House?

The truth however, is that as many patriots exist there as there were around the nation in different State Legislative Assemblies and the haloed halls of both Lok Sabha – Rajya Sabha when the GST Bill was enacted.

A landmark law.

Commercial. Economic. Business .

Women’s’ Reservation Bill. CCC. A newer polished, simplified, non-chaotic Companies Act.

Oh, no!

Law Commission is seized of the matters.

Period.

Static.

Noise. Chaos. Confusion.

Rhetoric.

Television debates. Online opinions. There’s an expert reflected in every tweet published by all voices of support and dissent.

Yet, what matters and counts, in the ultimate analysis is ‘Act of Parliament’.

All else is futile, unproductive expenditure . Of energies. Time. Minds.

Let the Parliament function in an appropriate manner, daily.

Throughout the sessions.

Convene extraordinary ones for most urgent issues.

Act right.

Dharma.

Righteousness.

Virtues.

Constitution has an all-inclusive, beautiful Preamble which defines our Nation.

So, change the derailed systems.

You do not require generation of public opinion within the country.

Or, from foreigners, who actually, are least concerned in the internal affairs of our nation.

Pause.

Ponder.

Reflect.

Think.

Time flies by.

More time flies by. .

Life goes away.

Wasted lives. Lost times. Opportunities thrown away.

It was this very weakness of either mere announcements in election manifesto or postponement of future of all who have placed good faith in an elected set of citizens to better shape & alter the destiny of their children(  at least ) that stands mute witness to history.

Blunders of history.

Inaction.

As bad as over-action.

Vijayadasami .

Celebration of life’s triumph over everyday battles. Be it innate. Or, external foes.

Sloganeering.

Posturing.

Photo-ops.

No way. This is not enough. Nor the ending.

Do not depend on those who only advise postponement of concrete, definite, remedial action.

To better peoples’ lives.

You were all elected for that purpose.

Not to vote for higher salaries with increased perquisites to MPs, MLAs & other public servants.

Act right.

Action please.

Act now.

No more procrastination!!

Transform our society. In lifetime of every voter.

Leaders may come and go.

One as NaMo is a first of his kind.

Capitalize.

Strengthen his resolve.

Do not discourage .

Foresight demands timely action. Not, delayed response or nil-response.

History witnesses and takes stock of all.

Flash in the pan leaders are everywhere, around the globe.

There comes a time for every land and country to excel itself and take advantage of circumstances ,to better the lifestyle and quality of lives led by it’s population.

This is India’s hour of glory in the comity of nations.

Not merely as biggest contributor to peace keeping force of United Nations in strife-torn countries. Nor, as one facing incessant terror-strikes from rogue-state in backyard.

More, as one nation with the willpower and a wherewithal to redesign economic plans, discipline the ever-errant banks and raise happiness-quotient of it’s citizens.

Giving up on subsidies is neither a sacrifice nor a gain.

Neither for the citizens or their Government.

To be able to lead a life free from tensions of uncertain, ever-changing, subjective tax-slabs and hassle-free life of affordable, qualitative healthcare, being devoid of hoarding, black marketing and speculative trade of essential supplies, be it oil, onion, flour, rice, wheat or fruits.

To be a happy nation.

Yes. No more dilly-dallying on key quotients of life.

No procrastination please.

Is it asking for too much?

Jai hind!
