Clash of Errors

Clash of Errors

by Pamarty Venkataramana

A  Nation is not a one-man show. It never is.

All able population must work hard. Be employed in one way or the other.

Only the old, aged, infirm or the little children in the society should be resting and freed from laborious, industrious works.

There should be no vagabonds. Lethargy must become a thing of the past.

Disabling the able ones through sops and subsidies, on one pretext, is not enabling the society.

Nor is pub-style of brawling, arguing and shouting hoarse responsible journalism.

Mass-media should become a beacon of wisdom and sagacious true and fair reporting of good news.

At present, news reporting has degenerated to the scum-level of wailing, bemoaning, cursing, accusations and rumor-mongering in guise of TRP-driven, paid-media channels.

Real thinkers ponder and pour their hearts in columns. They do not act as handmaidens of propaganda agencies.

Legislative assemblies and August Houses of Parliament should regain their lost glory of centuries-old panch system of arbitration and reconciliation. Not be reflections of street-urchin like unruly behavior.

There should be decent conversations and not conflicts of physical abuse, which by no stretch of imagination can be dubbed as ‘ debates’ of civilized representatives of civilized society.

Judiciary is only a conscience-keeper of society.

The Legislature is supreme.

Executive must act only as crutches for good governance. Walking-sticks must not turn as serpents around the neck of Legislature.

Or else, an undesirable climate of Government-Judiciary would be projected to seek to create an environment of anarchy, chaos and decadence of societal-mores as well as institutional-values.

Merely cheering a popular-leader will not help the leader solve age-old problems plaguing the land unless populist-schemes are shelved, scrapped and forgotten, forthwith.

Easier said than done?

Demonetization was a good move. Albeit, poorly executed by an ecosystem of governance which has many moles and unionists working to derail the crucial program of defanging vicious terror-funding bodies and unregistered groups of individuals.

A uniform civil code is urgently needed to help knit the Republic as a strong, united Nation. Not just in letter but in spirit too. Till this is done, parochialism and male- chauvinism shall be the monsters who have the last laugh at every well-meant measure of the Central Government.

Even more vital is the realization that article-370 has long become redundant by virtue of application of a golden principle of estoppel and in the result, all Indians must be permitted to settle down, reside, commence business in the territorial-limits of Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral part of India.

Even a school-going child would pose a simple question:’ when all Kashmiris are allowed to reside and enjoy benefits of rehabilitation when displaced by terrorists, why can’t the reverse be the case with all other citizens of India?’

Rectify the anomaly!

One does not require a majority in the Upper House of Parliament as those enjoying a record-majority in the Lower House are prone to address all such queries of the humble, unknown, unsung patriots in this Country.

Proof of statement?

The very fresh ‘demonetization’-announcement . And, the GST-Bill which was enacted by BOTH Houses of Parliament of India.

So, let his critics know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is no Nimrod , as few assume . Likewise, may all the good Prime Minister’s supporters and others recognize the fact of those in the opposition ranks, although minuscule by comparison in strength of elected posts are also fellow countrymen and should not be heckled or derided.

May an atmosphere of universal-brotherhood and nationalism prevail to re-establish the ‘ Mera Bharat Mahaan ‘ and ‘ Vandey Mataram’ camaraderie. . .

Procrastination is as deadly a disease as is haste. There is no dearth of intelligentsia, the productive, positive kind in this huge country. Isolate and condemn the self-acclaimed ones that denounce virtues of a democratic government. For thus, it becomes important for salutary constitutional bodies like the Election Commission of India to de-recognize any political outfit which declares itself as being pledged to a form of governance other than a constitutional, parliamentary system.

Plug loopholes in the governance systems.

Even a simple affair as apostilisation of documents executed in any State of India are refused to be attested by Resident Commissioners of States stationed in national capital on plea of ‘not having been empowered to so do by their State Governments’! Either the IAS-officer seeks advice if his P.A., a clerk or the P.A. refuses to permit a direct audience with the Resident Commissioner. And, the GoI CVA section officer says -‘ go, obtain the first attestations from the Resident Commissioner of State concerned and then, the document would be affixed the apostile sticker,as a counter-certification of the veracity of execution of the document. A resident commissioner, an IAS-officer, in fact, said he will not attest registered document. When asked about a notarized document, he says no. Then, when a clarification is politely sought whether there is any bar and what type of papers would he be attesting, he got visibly incensed.’

And, it was just a simple ‘ letter-of-authority ‘ !

(If such be the plight of one closest to corridors of Power and adhering to the carpet rather than letting a red-carpet welcome be rolled out, imagine the plight of poor folk from rural parts and cities with no exposure to ways and means of approaching the Babulog and offices of authority!). .

Where are the Achey din?

Is it only for the schemes and the posters ?

Are honest folk not entitled to seek small mercies from a cruel system where the crowned are majestic in the peans sung by courtiers and comrades-in-arms whilst innocent, law-abiding, honest citizens and real assets of the nation are continuously harassed by crooked, wicked, ignorant or outright evil elements in the set-system?

Change the system. Overlook, forgive those you cried hoarse as being scamsters by all means. But, do dispense life-systems to the upright, righteous majority who are shunned, shamed and scooted away every which day,for no fault of theirs!

It is not out of place to however applaud the well-meaning exercises of the Honourable Prime Minister who is a patriot to the core. As established business houses are knocking doors of courts on internal squabbles and a world outside is shrinking in confidence due to several factors including oil-price fluctuations, commodity-wars and sea-water disputes, it becomes essential for the Government to carefully prune out discrepancies in the existing system. Not everything can be blamed to predecessor Governments.

For instance, the vital MCA-21 breaks down crippling professionals such as Company Secretaries and corporate lawyers, auditors, foreign investors from functioning in a smooth and efficient manner. Currently, the largest law of the land, viz; the Companies Act is reduced to vagaries of technical breakdowns of the site of the Ministry concerned and well read, accomplished professionals reduced to clerks who are glorified data entry operators, so to speak.

These are but little insights into systematic failure and insights to the malfunctioning rampant in the system which comprises of the hood, the bad and the outright wicked ones!

As the new year is ushered in,all citizens now look up to a new lifestyle, a life of self-fulfillment, real development and peaceful adjustment of aberrations in the existing systems – for Good Governance.

Jai Hind!
