A make-believe City & it’s Chief?

Most modern day capital cities are beautified relics of the past. Or,are they they? Delhi literally is a city that has capitalised on being built over tombs of yesteryear-invaders who conquered the land of the wise and the meek.
Indraprastha and Hastinapur aren’t symbolic dead cities any longer. Thanks to the Mahabharata-like battle going on over the last few years in particular on the political-turf of the National Capital of India.
The last five years are a study in human foibles,gross-negligence and short-sightedness of the dispensation which includes the nonchalant attitude of the electorate in ‘no man’s land’ – Delhi.
Touted as a place which houses the country’s Houses of Parliament and the Apex Court besides the corridors of Powerful Bureaucracy,Delhi has also been the apple of every tout’s eyes. Let us ignore the ‘pairawikaars’ out for petty economic gains and the nomads from other States of India that flock to this God-forsaken part which has no weather of it’s own ( it’s extremely cold climate when it snows in the Himalayan ranges at Kashmir and is blazing hot when the desert of Rajasthan faces the heat wave ).
Being the capital of Indian Republic and on a voting date,it is but natural for one to ponder over the touts of politics who have stopped down to be mistaken for uncouth,anonymous touts who harass tourists in tombstone structures and petty peonage which fleeces you to let you into any ‘daftar’ of babulog or netas in this haloed city-State.
Or better called the semi-State of Delhi?
For,what use is a Chief Minister of a State who has no ‘law & order’ portfolio in his sphere of administrative control?
He’s as good as a half man & half insect which is what the creation of a foreign funding agency has exhibited himself to be despite the large hue & cry raised by hapless voters in this erstwhile Union territory as well as an aghast rest of India !
It’s as if a cockroach crawls into your drawing room and as you try to shoo it off,you unwittingly let a grasshopper step out of the wardrobe thus nudging the cockroach to settle in your kitchen pantry space ( even as the grasshopper positions herself down to the south in a closet of protection)!
Comparisons are now odious. Irreparable damage has been done- both to democracy and the spirit of democracy.
A self-avowed anarchist was let into office of secrecy and his ilk spread over vital turrets of power( thereby letting loose official secrets and sensitive data unavailing those not falling within the rings of protocol). He is as a stand-up comedian who is pushed onto stage with a dumb head and numbed heart possessed by a sole objective of garnering all public attention: the greed only multiplied as a bored audience interspersed with polite old men only cheers him to send him backstage but he assumes it to be a resounding applause.
He is egged on by another imposter whose granddad supposedly was a poor (& therefore honest ) man who could not buy sindoor for his wife and got killed on foreign soil by spies’ – poisoning but whose heirs rank among the topmost in the list of secret wealthiest desis( the sidekick mantri reportedly suggests that the cockroach-Chief announce free wifi alongwith free supplies of water,electricity and many more attractive impossible fruits of living in no-man’s land )..and,he announces- to walk in with a thumping majority( twice over ).
There’s not a whisper or complaint over Electronic Voting Machines not of poor management by the Election Commission.
Rank opportunist that the mole of contemporary desi politics is,he has a band of local goons turned comrades in arms to play along ( barring an exception or two educated eager beaver ministers) and forgets most conveniently of the hordes of auto rickshaw unions and scavengers of localities that cried hoarse to let him in as a victorious ‘leader’ openly embracing land-mafiaso who were out to develop erstwhile refugee camps and illegal slums into modern housing societies.
Each and every day since then has been a more disappointing day than the one before with a fallen system and a failing democracy in the very bastion of power of this great nation. Neither the half man & half insect performs for the good of citizens not the all powerful party in actual power at the Centre has the political will to dismiss this non-performing chief minister.
Not to mention that being a prop-up of overseas bodies and not unabashedly by spy agencies of foreign features,populist schemes as mohalla clinics and school reforms entice the gullible public from other States besides aping Chinese odd-even road-dilemmas, yet the filth and garbage witnessed in Chief functionary being summoned at midnight and being slapped for holding on to files ( and insisting on aadhaar cards for ration supplies to immigrants ) only portrays the anarchy which has smitten the general public thanks to uncensored distribution of cinematic films and unbridled newspaper tales against patriotic and industrious leaders of India by a mass media largely owned and controlled by foreigners.
Does one blame the evil pest or the adulterated pesticide?
The solution lies in carving a Union territory area out of Lutyens Delhi and New Delhi Municipal Corporation zone and letting the remainder become a full-fledged State with a Chief Minister who becomes potent with power of law & order ( policing) vested in him( or her).
Vote right,Delhi.Your Members of Parliament by far , so far, have always been proxies of power-mongers. Never the torch-bearers of power of the people themselves. An open secret!
Delhi must rise above the towering ghosts of the Moghul era. Else,Lord Rama will continue to be kept off His Abode at Ayodhya.
No more make-believe Chief Minister era please!
