Sengol of Dharma

Sengol of Dharma

By- Pamarty Venkataramana

Indian sub-continent has a gory past of betrayals by those who were trusted by the rulers, from time to time, across eras in history, be it from ancient, medieval period or contemporary times.

Either money or money’s worth was used by hostile usurpers of our motherland. The Portuguese, Dutch, French and British colonisers were more recent but the raiders from Arab desert lands invariably infiltrated the rank and file of loyalists: greed and avarice always won over trust and patronage.

The scenario of today is not dissimilar. Even as the nation is being bestowed with a majestic new building to house its two Houses of Parliament, there are spoilsport parties with vested interests hell bent upon diluting the significance of the historic event. Those who are aware of how one Suba Singh was awarded the contract for the old building would definitely rejoice at the non-partisan manner in which this ultra-modern edifice has become a reality in a relatively short span of time. Gossip is but a side story which brings to the fore the undercurrents of palace intrigue, nepotism and corrupt practices governing governors of power games.

India, that is Bharat, is truly a land of sages, Maharishis and warriors. The ‘rajadanda’is symbolic of the power which emanates from he who is worshipped as messenger of Almighty sent down to earth with a karmic duty of seeing to the welfare and well-being of people in the land. Dharma epitomises law of the land.

A constitution which segregates, categorises and differentiates between population as diverse groups dubbed as minorities, castes, tribes, majority or otherwise cannot be a dharmic constitutional beacon of light which can ensure ‘ equality before the law’ and ‘ equality of laws’.

Unless this is set right,no amount of efforts to wean out the sense of disentitlement from minds of those used to freebies filled life of comfort as compared to meritorious folks that cannot comprehend their sin in being born in a generation seeking to make amends for bygone inequities of society can ever transform this land into a nation of Dharma.

If avowed inequality is the signature-tune of a preamble to the Constitution that aims to bring about justice – social, economic and political, how can then qualitative life devolve on the suffering majority sections of the land? And, how can the best of technologies evolved by best of brains bring about transformation of the country into a #NewIndia much touted by all political commentators? Or, how can we reverse the old syndrome of brain-drain?

A new orderly State of Law and wholly led by national security interests is of paramount importance. This can be carved only if existing laws be tweaked in a thousand myriad little ways without violating the pith and substance of existing framework of constitutional dictates.

In a people’s democracy, it is the will of the majority population which holds sway. Those who wished to be led by Shariat and could afford a train ticket to the newly carved Lilliputian country in our backyard had left the mainland Bharat. Those who today after attaining economic strength by virtue of free visas to Gulf and after seven decades of freebies still shriek for fanaticism-based lifestyle may be disenfranchised by united resolution of the Legislatures,Judiciary and Executive: they may be given a free passage to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey or any of the western lands welcoming such exodus. Let there be no compunctions about absolute loyalty to the national flag, national anthem and cultural ethos of coexistence being the sine qua non to reside in this great country. As a nation,we tolerate but as one nation, we frown and disapprove of traitors, moles and spies who are constantly out to undermine the dedicated efforts of many a patriot working tirelessly day in and day out, led by none other than the Honourable Prime Minister himself.

The die is cast. All ‘ranga siyars’ are wailing, bawling and protesting against a national event. Rather than cribbing to boycott the auspicious event, they could have gone on a token thirty-days long hunger strike after stepping into the hallowed precincts of the symbol of national pride of the world’s largest democratic nation. It is most unbecoming of the boycotters to create ugly scenes reeking of a fissiparous tendency to stall progress.

A sengol surely can pull the worms out of the can ? Adharma versus Dharma. The victory walk towards General Elections 2024 has begun, so to speak.

A #NewIndia awaits a new awakening in minds, hearts and vision of every Member of Parliament as the new building awaits guruhapravesh tomorrow. Vande mataram 🙏
