Hail the Chief

 Hail the Chief !

– Pamarty Venkataramana

Myths are the foundation of great nations.Be it a people’s democracy or a monarchy led constitutional democracy, the farce is the facade of the Houses of Society!

Likewise, the Judiciary. Beginning from the wigs and collar-bands to the flowing gowns , it is all beautiful peacocking style. In fact,it is these very embellishments that lend a sense of grandeur to arguably our most learned and paraded vocation!
Be it leader or follower; be it captain of industry or a pauper ; be it an insolvent or just a hard core criminal; and be it the butchers of a humane society or the leeches of administration, courts of law seem to be their last refuge in a cry for justice. Undoubtedly, there is a clan which takes pride in vilification of the rescuer and hogs on limelight attained by tarnishing the fair reputation of saviors! But then,we are not living in a society where social media is watched by Big Brother or where no civil courts exist for grievances to be ventilated.
As such, where the rule of law is predominantly present by those shrill cries of being wronged and travesty of justice being the war-cry,it is but essential to maintain a decorum of civilization and compassion. Thus, the chief of a court is the chief in real too! It was not necessary for the honorable Supreme Court to rule that it is the sole prerogative of the Chief Justice to allot matters for being judged upon!
Those clerical staff responsible for scrutiny and registration of such apparently frivolous applications and petitions ought to be taken to task, one dare observes after undergoing decades of on-hands, in-line experiences in dealing with like-situations.
Obviously, few court personnel are reading newspapers and watching television broadcasts to determine eligibility of a petition to be heard by the apex court ( in the process, forgetting the statue books )! A most ominous trend which got perpetuated with certain lobby of Public-interest litigation factory ruling roost to gain mass popularity and dubious adulation!
The Chief Justice is supreme and until a better alternative springs from all the discontentment over the Collegium system, the Government would do well to not permit any of the judges who have held public conferences expressing lack of faith in the very system by which they have got elevated and are still continuing to be part of,from becoming the Chief Justice even for some be hour.Or,they could cause irreparable damage to the whole constitutional set-up of a three-pillared Democracy by passing one order perverse to the amity and cohesive bond plastered by articles of the Constitution!
Forewarned is forearmed. The Chief is right. The three judges bench headed by the Chief Justice rightly ruled.
Hail Lady Law!

Jai Hind!
🇮🇳🙏
