Power of Will

Power of Will

This is the story of 356 BC in a place called Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia, there lived a king namely Philip II and his wife was Olympia. They gave birth to a boy. The king was ruling the state wisely and in parallel he was preparing his son to be his successor. The boy was not much seen by the ordinary citizen of the state. The boy was also active and was learning all the skills like horse riding, fencing, and swimming quickly. Everything was fine till the boy reached the age 10..

One fine morning, after finishing his training, the boy walked on the road to see the empire. As none of them knew him, no one recognized him. On the way, he was listening the people talking & fighting with each other over petty issues. After trolling still long, he was surprised to see a crowd of hundreds standing in line in front of a house. Some of them were moving here and there to show their emergency and anxiety. The ten year old boy got curious about their behaviour.

He straight away went to them and asked, “What is happening here? Why you all are standing like this?

One guy replied:  “A world famous astrologer came to our kingdom & he exactly predicts the future, so all of us are waiting to hear our futures…”

As usual the small boy got curious about it and stood at the end of queue. Many elders started suggesting him to wait for few years to know his future as he is still young but the boy decided to know his future there & then. The line was decreasing gradually, he was nearing for his chance, finally he got his chance to meet the astrologer..

Soon after seeing astrologer, he showed his right hand and asked him to predict his future.

The astrologer took a magnifying glass and started to analyse the young boy’s hand, after few minutes of seeing his hand he did some calculation and said to boy, “You will live like a king. You would have been even luckier if you had a line between your palm, you would have been an emperor” and showed where exactly the line was missing…

Listening it, the boy stood up and took the small knife is hand and cut a line in his hand exactly as astrologer told where it was missing, and asked astrologer,  “Now tell me will I be emperor??”

The astrologer got shocked by seeing the boys will, the astrologer stood and said, “Continue this determination and work towards your goal, one day surely you will rule entire world”.

The boy’s determination and words of astrologer never went wrong, the boy started his journey as king and started to conquer entire world at the age of 19, he is none other than

Alexander   “Alexander the Great“

The story may be small but the theme will stand tall, one must not get depressed by what other says, work hard, success surely follows you…

To end with a proverb,

“Footprints on the sands of time are not made by sitting down.”
