Six Nails gone Three to go

1Death of a Party is never sudden. There are no accidental deaths of a Party. And the long period of diseased struggle to survive does not have a medical fraternity to help it survive. The antidote to the disease needs to come from within and has to be administered irrespective of the emotional pain that may accompany.

Achieving a Political and Administrative Control on the State is a Prime Objective with which a Party is born. Parties can die more easily if they do not taste the Power of Ruling a state. But it becomes an excruciatingly painful and long period when a Party succeeds in achieving power. The taste of Power has an addictive effect. It also has the quality of attracting various vested interests to associate with the Party by virtue of the Power.
This attraction does, however, get misinterpreted by the Party as loyalty. There is no such thing as loyalty in Politics. There is only a sense of ‘usefulness’ that keeps the associates together. This equation can over a period of time get transformed to ‘blackmailing’ leveraging the knowledge of secret deals and deeds. This can also lead to mutual ‘silence of convenience’.
Complacence is a natural concomitant of long stay in Power. It generates a feeling of Right of Control and makes a Party blind to the possibility disengagement. This is belief is further strengthened when the Ruling Party is successful in using the unscrupulous methods to beat the illusory democratic rights of the general public.
The methods are various. Deliberate Deficiency in Policy to ensure continuing poverty of the constituents. Keep them busy in striving for the basic needs. If the efficacy fades away, create fear in the mind of the people by invoking emotions. Emotional Insecurity compels the masses to regroup themselves believing that this would at least help them tide over the perceived danger to life and assets.
There are a few enablers to facilitate the use of these methods. No control is complete until Media is with you. The Intelligentsia also needs to be singing your praise. The Academia must agree to propagate the philosophy of servility among the younger generation attaching a sense of nobility to the deeds of connivance and sacrilege. Break the faith on Tradition and Culture. Define new cultural values that instils a sense of false Pride in defying the age-old wisdom of the ancestors.
The other enabler is a disguised use of alms as a benefit. Momentary gains that go a long way to erase the memories of pain. Alms that actually are a by-product of asset gathering activities exploiting the vulnerability of the masses. Taxes, Infrastructure Building and Natural Calamities are the best pipes of gathering these assets. A part of it, given away as pre-poll alms to retain the Control.
All of the above are methods which are time tested. But, there is another side to this reality. History shows that no Empire or Ruler could ever become a permanent Ruler despite adopting these methods. Natural awakening of the masses find an expression when a trustworthy alternative arises from the Pancha Tatwa.
Then the House is on Fire. When Fire Breaks out, the reactions of the ‘loyals’ are worth watching. Each one of these ‘loyals’ accompany you to a distance towards the death of the Party. Each one has its own threshold of tolerance. Thereafter, personal security overcomes the ‘sense of belonging’ and a breakout starts.
The result of this breakout at first is seen in the changing tunes of the associates. Some leave the ‘Ship’. The metaphorical use of the ‘Ship’ is of great significance. A ship is a carefully crafted and engineered vessel that distinguishes it from its environment, that is the Sea. The inhabitants of the ship have a sense of Pride in being able to beat the Natural Forces.
So, the Party is on the verge of Death. The elaborate arrangement of a coffin comes in the Form of a General Election. A timely preparation for the coffin induces an administrative need of a nine-phase voting schedule. Each phase acts as an effective nail in the coffin. Six of them have gone in. Three to go. Three weeks to go.
Thereafter, the advent of a new party in power. A party that promises not to become a ‘Ruler’. Let us wish that they live up to their words and change the history of Rulers getting addicted to Power. Instead , we hope they would get addicted to the praise of the masses by bringing in the most sought after ‘ LIFE of Peace and Prosperity’ for the People.

Good article.Unfortunately,in India,we are not Indians. We are driven by many factors on sectarian basis but most crucial is our self interest.Had it not been so,Congress would not have dared to contest 1977,1989 and 2014 elections.Even in 1977,Congress got 154 seats.Could not people felt shamed of voting for them?At times we behave like non human. After such a good work NDA lost in 2004.If Congress looses in 2014,there will be strong reason for it but not in 2004.Modi has to work hard for at least 15 yrs.transform India and to keep Congress at bay.
