No one can deny that last few days were blackest days in Indian democracy & team-anna-dabs-and-jabspolitics. No one can imagine the level up to which Indian Politics & Politicians can stoop low. Theoretically the ultimate aim of politics & politicians is to ‘get power’ to provide best government for welfare of the country & its countrymen, but in fact, today, the sole motive of Indian politics & politicians is to ‘grab power’ for their own welfare & enjoy all fruits of power like old-time autocratic kings. This decay, decline, ostracism of political values has not started today but its roots were laid on 15th August, 1947 when then political class accepted partition of the country, rejecting Babu’s well meaning advice.

Bapu was against the partition because he knew it very well that this type of partition will give birth to endless problems. That is what precisely happened. His argument was that you can’t expect Mango from a poisonous tree. Many may not agree with me but it is hard fact that the country was divided to end religious conflicts. But the religious divide has increased in fact since then. This divide has spread its wings in other spheres also, like caste division, social division etc. In every sphere of life, the root of division was planted in 1947 itself. Not only this, but then politicians used their self-centered wisdom to lay their hands to hold the power in the name of ‘Welfare of the society’ by applying ‘Divide & Rule policy’ to grow their ‘Vote-Bank’.

This is not that then politicians were not aware of the danger of such politics but it suited them well to ‘grab power’, to let their name written in history books & enjoy all fruits of power in place of English rulers. They continued the English policy of ‘Divide & Rule’ & divided the social fabric of the country in every sphere of life. By doing so then political leaders forced our beloved country to march on torturous path of destructive politics.

The worst part of the story is that they passed the ’Germs of Self-Centered & Vote-Bank Politics’ to next-gen politicians too. The next-gen politicians proved themselves better successor of this ‘Self-Centered & Vote-Bank Politics’ because they experienced that power begets absolute power, absolute power leads to absolute corruption & this absolute corrupt brings absolute ‘self-welfare’ disregarding country’s welfare. This idea gave birth to new phenomena of ‘Vote-Bank Politics’.

To grow ‘Vote-Bank’ further, the next-gen politicians imposed emergency, played dirty tricks with ‘The Constitution of India’ & tried their best to subvert the ‘Judiciary & Executive System’ including imposing censorship of media. That was too much even to most neutral person of the country. Hence the whole country rose against this autocracy.

See the most unfortunate & tragic part of the story. The political classes, which lead country against the emergency & its evil design, also fell prey to lust of the power themselves & started pulling each other’s leg resulting in loss of the power to previous self-centred politicians. The saddest part of the story is, this political class too became expert in ‘Vote-Bank Politics’ & ‘grabbing power’ through it. They learned ‘Vote-Bank Politics’ faster than a fish learns to swim.

Then the game of grabbing power through vote-bank started at the largest scale. This game attracted nearly all political minds, yes nearly all political leaders’ mind and soul. Today there is hardly any politician & political party which does not have this cancer. Nearly everyone wants to get power, wants to come in power “not to serve country but to serve themselves”.

These greedy political leaders can do anything to increase vote-bank to get power. They can go to any extend for it. They can create people like Bhindranwale for vote-bank & then kill them by attacking the holy of holiest places. They can kill a particular community under pretext of Prime Minister’s murder. To increase or to preserve their vote-bank, they can play Mandal-Kamandal game to divide the whole country vertically. For this, they can find solution of 44 years old Telengana problem in just 44 minutes in a telecastless, closed door & unrecorded Lok Sabha without vote division. In fact, this episode is a grand story of ‘vote-bank politics’ & it was more dangerous than the ‘Emergency’ because each & every MP participated in this T-Game irrespective what they said outside of parliament & irrespective to which party they belonged. The funniest part of this game is that the same political class who supported the bill in the lower house, tried to stop it in the Upper House the very next day due to vote-bank politics.

If it is not vote-bank & power grabbing politics then what it can be, which trains LTTE & then sends peace-keeping force to fight against the same LTTE resulting the brutal murder of an Ex-PM. This is vote-bank & power grabbing politics which forces the widow of the Ex-PM to pardon a woman murderer to turn her punishment in just ‘life-imprisonment’ & also keeps hanging the death sentence of the other 3 murders for 14 years. The same politics starts making hue & cry over the ‘political motivated release’ of these murderers. The same vote-bank politics compromises with ‘terrorist activities’ & forces the authorities to ‘go soft’ on a particular class people if they are caught in such activities. The same political consideration hangs some Guru in a huff but opposes some other like Bhullars punishments.

One should not be surprised, if one-day, this vote-bank politics nominates some PM or CM’s murderer or some ‘Nirbhaya’s Rapist’ as Prime-Minister or President of this country because this is vote-bank politics which have introduced Murderers, Looters, Criminals & all type corrupt people in the politics.

Not only old & experienced Politicians & political parties are involved in this game of grabbing power through vote-bank but newly formed political party(s) & their leaders are involved too. If in 1947 if a political party grabbed the power disregarding their guru Gandhi ji’s advice then in 2014 the other party grabs power riding on shoulder of their own Guru & then rejected him after branding him as weak & irresponsible. Their irresponsible & uncivilized statements regarding Bhullar, Maoists, Kashmir & other matters and also running away from taking Delhi’s responsibilities are part of this vote-bank politics & grabbing power on pan India basis.

Does it mean only demon takes birth in a demon family and there is no hope of Prahdals for time being? No, sometime Prahlads too take birth in demon families though their numbers are very less. The future of this country depends on such Prahlads only. Fortunately there are few Prahlads in Indian politics & India wishes that such Prahlads to come forward to save it from the clutches of Demons.

If the cry “You shameless Politicians, Do not stoop so low” is not heard by the politicians then there will be such a revolution which will blow away the present political class who is indulged in grabbing power for their own welfare disregarding country’s welfare.

  4. I fully endorse the views presented in this post……Thank You……….It is time to teach politicians that they can’t take people for granted….and also to make them learn politics which is a very serious business of managing people and the country. So let us become a wall of “ONENESS” and see the difference…..

  6. By and large I endorse your view. The vote bank politics is rooted in Seculer politics as defined by Pt.Nehru and his followers, even Gandhi fell into the trap or if I may say, was also the philosphy of Gandhi ji.Today’s entire vote bank politics hinge around this philosphy.
