Shashi Tharoor, Cleanliness and Dirty Politics

Tharoor, Cleanliness and Dirty Politics

SHASHI_THAROOR_18_1_2014Since Shashi Tharoor joined politics, he was a misfit. Indian politicians are supposed to be distinguished, cunning, having bigger bellies than Matka, a sort of educated but illiterate man, a man who does not believe in law. minimum dozen cases pending in court for cheating, rape, looting etc. While he is a highly educated, soft spoken, debonair, the man who almost became UN Secretary General. It is no way to be a successful Indian politician.

Ok..by now we know that Shashi Tharoor is not a successful politician in today dirty political terms.

Before coming to active politics, Shashi Tharoor joined UNO in 1978 as staff member. After working in different department at different posts, he contested for General Secretary & came a close second behind Ban Ki-moon who could defeat Shashi Tharoor with the support of all five permanent members. It was clear that GOI did not put much effort behind him.

After resigning from UNO, Tharoor joined politics & contested as a candidate for the Congress Party in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala which he won. Apart from being active politician, Tharoor has authored 14 bestselling works of fiction and non-fiction. He is also a globally-recognized speaker on India’s economics and politics, as well as on freedom of the press, human rights, Indian culture, and international affairs.

From his first termination from MoS to recent removal as spokesman shows clearly that inspite of being highly educated, well behaved, articulate person, Shsashi Tharoor has to learn many more lessons if he has to stay in politics especially if he wants to stick with crumbling congress.

Today politics is more dirty than Mumbai’s roads. You can’t remain clean in politics. Contrary to the present political rules, Shashi Tharoor behaved like a responsible democratic bipartisan leader who can get over party biases and call out a good thing when it happens.

After being a responsible leader of congress which got the biggest but expected dribbling in recent general election, you are not expected to praise government’s good points. You can’t praise BJP leader that too their enemy #1 Modi. You can’t say Modi version2.0 is much better leader. You can’t associate yourself to their program even if that program is meant for welfare of India, even if that program has nothing to do with politics. But Shashi, not only praised Modi many times but committed himself to Swacch Bharat and accepted PM’s invitation. An unpardonable sin indeed.

After doing so many mistakes, Boss! how you can expect 10 JP to be kind to yourself even if you are their one of their best bets. You committed unpardonable sin & got the boot.

In the present situation where Shashi Tharoor, Cleanliness and Dirty Politics has been placed on chess board by the politicians from both sides, I personally feel sad. We, as Indian, must use each and every talent to raise our beloved contry’s standard. India can’t afford to mistreat person like Shashi Tharoor, who completed his Ph.D. in just 22 years, who rose from just staff member to the loosing gracefull from the post of UNO General Secretary & who is world acclaimed author. Shashi Tharoor should not be treated like dirt.

I expect our beloved, talented PM Modi who is known for his out of box ideas, to use Tharoor for the best of the nation without playing politics in his case.

At the same time, I expect & pray that Shashi Tharoor would keep himself engaged for betterment of the country inspite of the dirty political mud in which he has been caught…..
