Love at first sight!

At last one day Sudha and Sri eloped and got married with the help of Sri’s family. They both felt that they achieved some Oscar award in life. Sudha’s parents stopped talking to her and seeing her. Sri and Sudha started living in Sri’s house. Trouble started from the second day of marriage. For her shock her mother in law kept so many utensils to wash. Sudha has not done any house old job earlier in her parents’ house. She was hardly 18 years and still studying in collage. She told her mother in law that she doesn’t know any household job but she will slowly learn everything. Everyday her work load was increasing at the same time her mother in law started abusing her for marrying his son with empty hand (without dowry). Meanwhile Sri got job in a small company. Sudha who used to take her in laws torture patiently, she felt she could no longer take torture anymore hence decided to tell her husband regarding her in laws ill treatment to her.

Sri in the beginning supported his wife but later he too started showing his true colour. He himself was struggling in his carrier and could not take his family tensions so he started beating Sudha, her heart broke like a pieces of glass. She cried cried like anything. She left her loving parents, supportive brother to marry this man!! The man who filled her heart with love same man broke her heart too. She never wanted to return to her parent’s house as she felt she will no more get respect there. Even before she could realize what life is, her marital life started souring. She consoled herself that one day Sri will change and they can live happily forever. Only after her marriage she came to know that Sri did not get a proper life. His parents got separated at his very young age and Sri lived with his mother and uncle family. She thought may be due to his single parent brought up he is like that, her love may change him. She never wanted to go back home as she challenged herself that she would live with Sri forever and prove their love for each other to the world. She used to support him, encourage him and stood by him in everything but nothing worked. His torture was getting higher, as he lost so much money in business. As years passed the fight was increasing, love started vanishing slowly. They realized what they had for each other was not real love but mere infatuation. Sudha however wanted to adjust in his family sacrificed many things for him. One day they both had big fight and Sri started beating Sudha black and blue, that’s it, she could not bear his physical torture and abuses so she left his house to her parent’s house.

When her parents saw Sudha crying and coming to their house, her mother ran to the gate to receive her, whole family was with tears. They heard Sudha’s story patiently and said they would support her in whatever decision she takes. Sudha found a job for her. Both Sudha and Sri never wanted to see each other. They never wanted to speak to each other. Even their families were not ready to speak to each other and sort out things. Years passed, Sudha’s parents were worried about Sudha’s future.

One day Sudha ‘s father called her and asked her if she got any idea of returning back to her husband, she was silent for a moment and said “Father my heart is like a glass, anybody can see me through and know my attitude. My heart broke into pieces now it cannot fix back. I am very sorry for what I did to you all. I brought so much shame to our family. I think god punished me for that”. Her father replied “Child, you took all your decisions on your own, now we are asking from you one thing. We want to see our child happy again. He said there is no point dragging like this, he asked her to file divorce.”

  2. Mature story. Nice message to youngsters

  3. This Narrative is Plaintive Indeed but the best thing was Sudha got her family(Mother and Father) back which is a significant part of her life. Hats off to her parents for accepting her again and helping her throughout. Thank You for sharing. God bless Janani and her friend Sudha.

  4. Janani Amma, I felt sad at the end of your storey for your friend Sudha.A hurried decision on her part, her parents who were real friend was completely ignored.Moral of the storey is an opener for modern day children who are not prepared to listen to their parents who are the best friends.
